    I started learning the hiragana characters a couple of weeks ago or something... I've been forgetting to learn new ones, so I just know the a/i/u/e/o, k-set, s-set, t-set, and some miscellaneous characters from some of the other sets...

    Does anyone here know Japanese or has anyone else here started learning?
    I'm thinking of memorizing the hiragana... and maybe the katakana eventually... Should I just start trying to learn common words and phrases after that? The grammar confuses me, so I don't know how I'd start making my own sentences...

    I was thinking of attempting to read manga for practice after learning that basic stuff... is that a good idea?

      I have started but I am just trying to get the Honorifics down right now. that and a few basic phrases. other than that thats all I kno.
